What’s your Maryville experience?
In addition to being a Maryville alum, I’m also the university’s Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Previously, I was Vice President for Student Life at Maryville.
What’s your favorite Maryville memory?
The Annual Maryville Reaches Out (MRO) community service day. It’s an amazing day seeing the impact that collectively our students, faculty, and staff are making in the community. Working with organizations to make a difference like that makes me so proud to be a SAINT!
What are you doing now?
Currently at Maryville, I’m VP for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and also an Assistant Professor for the School of Education. I volunteer at Girls Incorporated of St. Louis and Boys & Girls Club of Greater St. Louis. I’m also involved in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the St. Louis Forum, and The Gateway Chapter of The Links. I enjoy traveling and sports with my husband, Derrick Caldwell, and we have two children and three grandchildren.
Additional goals and aspirations?
To learn new languages and travel the world.
How did your education and experience at Maryville help you?
As a professional and learner, my experience at Maryville has been two-fold. I have been fortunate to serve as a leader both on and off campus which has afforded me the opportunity to make connections, form partnerships, and serve students in the Greater St. Louis community. As an alum, I have embraced the teachable moments inside and outside of the classroom. My education and experiences at Maryville have truly broadened my view, knowledge, and commitment to access and opportunity.
Words of wisdom for today’s students?
To be a life-long learner and to pay it forward.
